Homemade Play Dough

Here's a great recipe for inexpensive homemade play dough that my sister-in-law shared with me.  We like it even better than the store bought kind.  It's soft and easy to manipulate.  This recipe makes about 3 cups of play dough.

2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 1/2 Tablespoons cream of tartar
2 cups water
2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
Food coloring of your child's choice

Cook all ingredients on the stove top over medium heat until it starts to pull away from the sides of the pan and form a ball.  Carefully remove the dough from the pan and allow to cool on a sheet of foil.  When cool - play!  Store in an air tight container.
